Overview

The well-studied and relatively unaltered Paleozoic strata of Anticosti Island record the Late Ordovician-Early Silurian glaciation and coeval mass extinction event. Work in the Bergmann Lab has focused on constraining the magnitude and duration of this glacial episode through the use of clumped-isotope thermometry, which has provided robust estimates of seawater temperature independentof δ18Owater and has allowed for estimation of the extent of ice sheets during this interval.
